Queen’s Mill has always been an important landmark in Castleford.

Historically it has a long history as a working flour mill, which employed many people within the community. By 2013, however, the building had been left empty and was falling into disrepair.

Castleford Heritage Trust moved into Queen’s Mill in 2013 with ambitious aims to renovate the building, create a unique space in the town and to use the building for the community benefit of the people of Castleford.

Queen’s Mill is now a busy, thriving community venue.

  • In the centre of the town and the heart of the community.
  • A regional destination / visitor attraction.
  • Offering a range of spaces available for community use.
  • The home of some great local businesses.
  • A venue for activities, events, exhibitions and festivals
  • A ‘community hub’ for local services.
  • A place connected with local heritage and stories.
  • A centre for learning in the community.
  • And a working flour mill once more.

Queen’s Mill is a place to spend some time doing things you enjoy, a place to connect with other likeminded individuals, a place where there is possibility – to try out new activities and to express yourself, a place to eat, drink, shop and so much more.
