John Bell

I was born in Featherstone but connected with Castleford from an early age, being dragged along to Cas Market as a child, then working after school in the 1960s at GT Smiths Supermarket.

As a ‘Fev’ supporter I have endured the derby matches at the Cas ground over the years.

My working life has been varied, graduating from the University of Newcastle. I worked at Newcastle General Hospital for a few years then moved back to Yorkshire in 1976.

I have worked mainly in the building trade as a joiner/builder, running several businesses over the years. I have also worked as a social carer, with vulnerable adults, managing a home for Leeds City Council for several years before retiring in 2012.

I came to the Mill to help with the restoration of the water-wheel, staying for the last eight years to help with projects around the full restoration and re-purposing of the mill. I look forward to being a link between the volunteers and the trustees, to help move the trust forward and consolidate our fantastic efforts over the last few years.
