Castleford Heritage Trust is a registered charity located at Queen’s Mill in central Castleford

The Trust was established in 2000 by people from the Castleford community, who came together with a shared desire to influence and effect positive change for the town and the surrounding area. Community run and community led, our aim is to support a strong and successful community.

Our goals are:

  • For local people to have access to quality activities, events, exhibitions and personal development opportunities on their doorstep.
  • To be a community hub for the town; a centre for activity, recreation and personal development
  • To celebrate and champion the people of Castleford, enabling them to use their voice, connect with others and to live well.
  • To work creatively and flexibly, with partners and networks, towards positive outcomes for the people of Castleford.

We aim to create more opportunities within the town itself for:

  • Volunteering
  • Skills Building
  • Recreational and Educational Activities
  • Social Contact
  • Improving Wellbeing
  • Celebrating our Community

We are inspired by:

  • Castleford community’s unique heritage, culture and arts
  • Castleford‘s rich local story and environment
  • Our prolific manufacturing periods with industries built on the geology and geography of the area
  • A Roman brooch saying ‘Made in Castleford’

We are proud to have been involved in many projects around the town including heritage projects, environmental projects and many community wellbeing and celebration initiatives.

More details of our previous and current work can be found in the projects section of this website.

In 2013 Castleford Heritage Trust purchased Queen’s Mill with the goal of creating a unique community hub for the town. Since then, we have carried out major refurbishment works, welcomed new businesses to the site and re-established flour production – for more on the development of the Mill see our Queen’s Mill page.

Castleford Heritage Trust is now an established community anchor organisation and a Help at the Hub venue; here to support our community.

We have welcomed thousands of people to the site for events, exhibitions and community activities and more and are grateful for all the support we have received to date.

We continue to involve our community in everything we do and welcome suggestions, ideas and feedback. If you have any comments or questions Contact Us.
