Karen Tait
Karen worked with the Environment Agency’s customers and partners on environmental issues such as flood risk management, environmental regulation, biodiversity and nature conservation.
Karen started her working life in Bank Street, Castleford working Saturdays at a family friends shop.
She attended Wakefield District College and spent ten years working in the service industry before starting a career in the 1990’s with the Environment Agency. Karen is now retired from her role as an Engagement Specialist, where she worked to ensure positive relationships with the Environment Agency’s customers and partners on environmental issues such as flood risk management, environmental regulation, biodiversity and nature conservation.
In 2003 Karen graduated Bradford University with a Batchelor of Arts Degree in Community Regeneration and Development. The same year she met inspirational Alison Drake MBE, resulting in a partnership with CHT and the Environment Agency to develop and realise the Natural Heritage Project (2006-2009) to include providing a fish pass and on the weir adjacent to Queen’s Mill and educational opportunities for local school children.
