John Bell
John brings vast experience from the building and joinery trades to help plan and strategise the ongong works in the Mill
He was born in Featherstone but connected with Castleford from an early age, being dragged along to Cas Market as a child, then working after school in the 1960s at GT Smiths Supermarket.
As a ‘Fev’ supporter he has endured the derby matches at the Castleford ground over the years.
His working life has been varied, graduating from the University of Newcastle. He worked at Newcastle General Hospital for a few years then moved back to Yorkshire in 1976.
He has worked mainly in the building trade as a joiner/builder, running several businesses over the years and also worked as a social carer, with vulnerable adults, managing a home for Leeds City Council for several years before retiring in 2012.
He came to the Mill to help with the restoration of the water-wheel, staying for the last eight years to help with projects around the full restoration and re-purposing of the Mill. He looks forward to being a link between the volunteers and the trustees, to help move the trust forward and consolidate our fantastic efforts over the last few years.
