CHT partnered with Yorkshire Sculpture Park in the commission of The Cratehouse for Castleford by German artists Winter/Hörbelt in 2006.

This project brought international art to Castleford and encouraged ‘thinking differently about art’.

This artwork prompted a wide variety of responses between individuals, groups and local news outlets and increased discussions around the purpose of art and it’s place in the local community.

Castleford Heritage Trust hired an Arts Development Worker to encourage ongoing public engagement with the work. This post was funded by the Arts Council.

This was part of a wider project happening in Castleford at the time – ‘Kevin McCloud and the Big Town Plan’.
