River banks

No single organisation has sole responsibility for removing debris from watercourses and landowners are often unaware of their duty to keep banks clean and well managed. Some stretches are badly littered which can be hazardous to people and wildlife. Debris can travel downstream for miles.

Littering, dog-fouling and vandalism on footpaths and towpaths make our waterways less attractive places to be. Everybody can help to create a clean, safe, wildlife rich and bio-diverse waterside that are nice places to visit.
