Our community is proud of its rich heritage. We set out to reclaim and use that heritage for the benefit of all the community, especially our young people.
We use cross-generation activities to bring old and young together in sharing, learning and celebrating.
Our history and heritage give us vital resources to provide rich expereinces to build a strong community.
Our past gives us firm roots, pride, stability and self-esteem. Heritage is our focus but we are not backward looking, this is about building a stronger, wiser, better future for ourselves, our children and our communityExciting news!
Castleford Heritage Trust is delighted to announce that it has been awarded over £70,000 by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to further develop Bridge Arts, the community arts venue at the bottom of Sagar Street. The Heritage Trust runs the venue in partnership with Castleford Town Centre Partnership. The grant will mean the creation of two part-time Café Manager posts to further develop the Café facility and bring in much needed revenue for the building.
The two Café Manager posts are currently being advertised and anyone interested in applying can contact their local job centre or more details can be found on our ‘Vacancies’ page. The grant will also enable the Heritage Trust to offer work expereince placments and formal training opportunities for anyone wishing to gain voluntary work experience in the café.
We are currently putting together a great new programme of creative arts workshops for adults, plus holiday and after school clubs for children, this again is being funded by the grant. More details of the workshops and classes on offer will be available on our website in the coming weeks.
Alison Drake, Chair of Castleford Heritage Trust said, ‘We are delighted to have been awarded the funding from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust as it will enable us to further develop the opportunities we can offer the local community. It has also enabled us to sustain our Centre Manager. We are very excited about developing the café, with a wider menu and longer opening hours, and are looking forward to running our arts workshops for both adults and children.’
