Habitat

Wetlands
are one of the most important natural resources on earth. They provide
sustainable livelihoods for people, support a stunning variety of wildlife,
and form part of a healthy and functional landscape. Wetland habitats
can provide us with many benefits because they help to recharge underground
water supplies, filter out pollution and buffer the extremes associated
with climate change. RSPB wetland site at Fairburn Ings is the ideal
place for adults and children to find out more about wildlife and wetlands.
Wetlands
are often adjacent to watercourses and form part of the floodplain of
a river. They can be permanently filled with water or remain boggy once
waters have receded.
