Fish Pass

A
larinier fish pass has been constructed during 2007 which will allow
free passage of coarse fish (roach, bream, chub, barbel etc) and in
the longer term, salmon.
Fish will be able to access spawning grounds upstream which will increase
the number of fish in the river.
The
increase in fish will support the otter and kingfisher, so that they
can stay in the area.
Invasive
weed species have been treated with herbicides under a special contract
which ensures that the chemicals used do not have a negative impact
on the banks or water environment.
Local
children have constructed bird boxes which will encourage more birds
to breed in the area. Native plant species will be amongst those planted
adjacent to the new bridge landings.
