Catching the Vibe
An exhibition of paintings by Samantha Pattison O’Brien

1 March – 1 April 2010 Private View
7 – 9pm, Friday 26 February 2010

Samantha Pattison-O’Brien works and lives and Pontefract with her husband and three children. She works as an artist, tutor and art psychotherapist both personally and within the community.

A specialist in the psychology of art making she lectures and presents her research around the country as well as integrating her ideas into her creative work.

In 2007 Samantha set up Angel Gardens, a mobile creative space that brings together creative practitioners to provide a range of creative experiences to the community. This space has grown and over the last few years has attended over 50 music and creative festivals, including prestigious events such as Glastonbury and Latitude as well as smaller festivals such as The Magic Loungeabout in North Yorkshire and Solfest in Cumbria.

The festival vibe is something that Samantha has been inspired by, and it is this inspiration that has fed this exhibition. It is not the big stages, and world famous bands that inspire Sam, but the people, freedom, diversity, creative spaces and the sense of temporary community that finds an organic way of forming at these events.

Catching the Vibe, is a collection of paintings, photographs, objects and sculpture that have been created or collected while Sam travelled the country creating these spaces over the last few summers. Samantha creates a taste of the festival vibe at Bridge Arts, by bringing you the people and objects that has formed Angel Gardens, from oversized watercolour paintings to the willow angel sculpture, this exhibition promises to inspire and excite.
